The American dream is to own your own home. Many people were living that dream when the economy failed, and some were forced to abandon their homes when they were no longer able to make mortgage payments. When this happens, a lengthy legal process ensues and the bank forecloses on the mortgage. Once all the legal requirements are met, the bank takes possession of the property and places it on the market. Typically, banks do not want these properties and they may offer reduced prices in order to move them quickly. I have worked extensively with foreclosures as a listing agent and as a buyer’s agent. Although working with foreclosures can be tricky, I have enough knowledge about the process to move from contract to closing in a manner that is pleasing to all parties.
